One Small Club
One Huge Impact

Being of service to our neighborhood and the world

Over the past two-and-a-half years, the Denver Cherry Creek Rotary Club has awarded grants of over $130k through its affiliated Foundation.  These philanthropic funds were made available through generous contributions from members and friends of the Club, several key fundraising projects in our community, and accessing Rotary International matching funds.  The Annual Denver Cherry Creek Rotary Open golf tournament is the single biggest source of funds, enabling vital service projects in our community and around the world.  In addition, DCCR Club Members have volunteered thousands of hours to make these projects happen.  Keep reading to see examples of how those dollars have made a difference!

$35k for Community Service  Notable and representative projects include:
  • Partnered with Project Worthmore in a variety of ways to support Denver’s refugee community.  Key areas included addressing food insecurity and providing equipment for in-clinic dental care
  • Volunteer club members provided clean-up and painting for a resident senior in the community in partnership with Brothers Redevelopment Paint-a-Thon program
  • Funded a social media program through RiseAbove, encouraging healthy alternatives to substance use for Colorado teens
  • Supported Friends of the Haven, a residential treatment facility for women and mothers with addiction and substance abuse, including onsite daycare for infants of mothers in treatment
  • Historically, we have supported the Women's Homelessness Initiative by volunteering and providing meals each month to a sanctuary for unhoused women.  During COVID, the model shifted to provision of supplies and other programs to provide food to the unhoused community in Denver
  • Sponsored and staffed annual computer and electronics community recycling events with PCs for People

$40k for International Service Notable and representative projects include:
  • Led an dental mission to Honduras, where numerous Club members volunteer in both dental and administrative capacities to serve hundreds of patients
  • Provided school supplies to 2000 Honduran students for one year
  • Funded micro-loans for small women-owned businesses in Honduras through the Adelante Foundation

$18k for Disaster and COVID Relief Notable and representative projects include:
  • Supported immediate needs of Colorado residents impacted by the Marshall Fire
  • Coordinated hundreds of volunteers over 10,000 volunteer-hours repackaging 325 tons of food for MetroCaring in Denver
  • Provided emergency shelter, tools, and household supplies to displaced families after disaster and conflict through ShelterBox

$23k for Youth and Literacy Notable and representative projects include:
  • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards:  Sponsored about 10 students (8th grade or high school) each year to attend a 5-day overnight leadership camp in the mountains, and volunteered 3-5 Club members to serve as senior counselors
  • Provided thousands of dollars in scholarships to help students and refugees afford continued education or vocational training and certification
  • Sponsored a essay-writing contest for middle-schoolers to foster creative expression and writing skills
  • Made a 5-year funding commitment to Imagination Library of Denver to provide books every month to hundreds of kids from birth to age 5 in the Globeville/Swansea neighborhoods

$15k supporting worthwhile service projects of partner Rotary Clubs and The Rotary Foundation addressing critical and urgent needs throughout the world.
