Mental Health & Homelessness
Lifting people from hopelessness requires that they be given a safe place to sleep and healthy food - and also a bit of beauty. Once a month we set up the beds and provide dinner and breakfast - and maybe a few pretty earrings or soft scarves - to the women seeking help through the Women's Homeless Initiative.

With the closing of hospital cafeterias, local hospital staff have lost access to quick meals needed keep them on the front lines saving lives in the Corona Virus battle. Denver Cherry Creek Rotarians decided to help by supplying Rose Hospital, Denver Health Medical Center and the University of Colorado Medical Campus Emergency room with healthy and easy to eat sandwiches, wraps and salads provided free of charge by the club. Subway franchise owner Michael Steven, a member of the Club, is graciously subsidizing the cost of the meals and delivers the food with assistance from other club members. Meal deliveries will continue for as long as they are needed and are scheduled and coordinated with the hospital staff. The Club is also financially supporting local institutions providing food to the needy, such as The Food Bank of the Rockies, Metro Caring and the Salvation Army.
Volunteer Shout Out:
Denver Cherry Creek Rotary
Denver Cherry Creek Rotary
The Cherry Creek Rotary Club has launched a “Grub for Scrubs” volunteer effort to support Rose Hospital workers. The Rotary is providing restaurant prepared meals to front-line workers, doctors, and nurses. With long work shifts and closed cafeterias onsite, many hospital workers do not have adequate access to meals or the time to travel for quality food. Cherry Creek Rotarians have arranged to order, pay for, and pick up meals from local restaurants to deliver to the hospital. Their efforts support local Cherry Creek businesses that have struggled to remain open during the COVID-19 outbreak while also ensuring that meals get to doctors and nurses when they need it.
If you have time or resources, please contact Rotarian Joel Russman at 303-870-2663 or rotary@joelrussman.com to volunteer or donate.
